An Authorisation Meeting will be held on Saturday, 28th and Sunday, 29th March 2026 in Novotel Melbourne on Collins (No. 270, Collins St, Melbourne) to consider and approve proposed amendments to the Boonwurrung Native Title Application. Accommodation and some travel assistance will be available for eligible attendees.
It is very important that all people who are descendants of Louisa Briggs and who identify with their Boonwurrung heritage attend this meeting. Attendance is necessary to authorise the application and to properly assert the rights and interests of Boonwurrung People descended from Louisa Briggs.
In 2024, the Federal Court, by agreement between the parties, recognised that:
“Louisa Briggs was a member of the group comprising Boonwurrung people who, at effective sovereignty, held rights and interests in any part of the claim area, under traditional laws and customs.”
